Hundreds of pairs of spectacles have been sent out to St Francis Hospital over the years. These have either been given as unwanted items or uncollected lost property handed in to the BGH. The Eye Department at St Francis has the facility to test each lens and allocate a pair of glasses to patients most in need.

A prescription pair in the capital city of Lusaka can cost a person as much as two months’ wages. It is therefore unsurprising that most Zambians cannot afford such a luxury. The glasses that we send out for recycling therefore can transform a person’s life
